Game Programming with Java for Teens 13-16
This course is taught in three phases:
Phase 1 – Learn Java Fundamentals with Eclipse or Online Editor
Phase 2 – Java Game Development with Greenfoot
In this course students will initially be introduced to the main concepts of Java programming.
They will use the Eclipse IDE to create their projects and learn the fundamentals of the language:
Java Programming Language Fundamentals
- Import statements
- Variables and constants
- Data types
- Programming decisions and looping
- Object initialisation and allocation
- Method types and calls
- Strings and arrays
- Self and Super
Students will then create their own game in Greenfoot, which is an interactive Java development environment.
Through game development with Greenfoot, students learn about Object Oriented Programming.
