New Features of Android M

The preview for Android M was launched in Google I/O 2015 in San Francisco. Google suggests that it has gone back to basics to come up with this exciting new version of Android. This new operating system – although is tentatively called Android M, however, the original name is still kept under wraps. It is likely to come into production next year and Google is keep to keep things under wraps until then. There have been various speculations on this new operating system. For instance, Android M is suggested to bring stability and usability – instead of the visual improvements. It is boasting new features which are worth looking forward to. However, prior to the official launch users with Nexus smartphones will be able to download the preview of this amazing new software. Here are some of the top features of Android M.

App permissions

Google is simplifying the way permissions will be granted by placing it in a specific category section such as sensor, camera and location.

App will take permission before you use certain functionality within a specific app. For instance, Whatsapp will seek permission before you use the microphone to send a voice message. This will help grant permissions to specific apps within the phone settings.

Android M is definitely something worth waiting for! With all the new features Google has recently been adding up to their mobile operating system – Android M certainly seems like the step in the right direction.

Android pay

Unlike previous versions where users would download the app from Google play store, this would come preinstalled with Android M. It would work much in the same way as the last operating system where you can make purchases at NFC terminals, but you can confirm the transaction using fingerprint sensor.

App backups

Android M offers app backups. All the apps are suggested to be backed up in Google Drive Now you can rest knowing your valuable information would be kept backed up in Google Drive, so if by accident the app is deleted it can be restored to its original setting.

App Drawer

Android M would enable you to scroll vertically when viewing app drawer in an alphabetical order. It will also allow pinning of recent downloaded apps on top of the drawer to allow easy access. This app draw will also include a search top at the top to help you find it easily.

Standardised support for finger prints

Google is suggested to open the needed APIs to allow fingerprint support with any app. This will allow developers an easy access to this technology which was not as widespread before. This will also improve the need for biometric verification and will help authorise payments.

Volume controls

Currently, users need to go to the settings menu to change the volume for ringtones, notifications and other alters. Android M is simplifying the way we change volume by adding a drop-down arrow on the home screen.
